Nov-Dec 2007 - Our family trip to India . . .

Paris

Unfortunately the airport was all we got to see of Paris during our lay-over to Delhi. I plan to come back for a longer visit some day!

Delhi

Delhi

The capital city of India. This was our first stop when visiting India. The population is over 12 million!!!

Train Scenery

Train Scenery

We took many train rides to get from city to city. We learned quickly that the train is not always the place to try to save money. It's best to pay for your comfort on the trains.

Nainital

Nainital

Nainital is a large town in the Kumaon foothills of the Himalayas. It is nestled in a forested valley around a beautiful, emerald green volcanic lake.

Mussoorie

Mussoorie

Known as "The Queen of Hill Stations," Mussoorie was a popular hill station for the British before Independence. It's now a popular honeymoon and summer vacation spot.

Rishikesh

Rishikesh

The "Yoga Capital of the World." It is the home of MANY ashrams. It is also beginning to be a popular white-water rafting and back-packer center.

Ramana's Garden

Ramana's Garden

Ramana's Garden is a wonderful orphanage/school in the village of Gharwal in Rishikesh. We spent a lot of time here during our visit to India. You can visit their website at: www.sayyesnow.org

Agra

Agra

Home of the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort. Also home to hordes of rickshaw drivers, touts, unofficial guides, and pushy souvenir vendors.

Haridwar

Haridwar

Haridwar is located at the point where the Ganges river emerges from the Himalaya. It is considered a holy city and pilgrims come here to bathe in the fast-moving Ganges River.

Rajaji NP

Rajaji NP

Near Haridwar, Rajaji National Park is home to forested hills, elephants, tigers, leopards, deer and sloth bears. We took a 5 hour jeep safari with Sanjeev Mehta of Mohan's Adventure Tour & Travels. It was great!
